Pre-Conference Workshop Information

The workshop will be a mixture of large group sessions on general topics of interest, smaller group discussions, time for meeting with mentors and time for writing. The workshop has been shaped to help each participant design a specific plan for working towards their own personal goals for scholarly activity.

Topics of sessions will include:

  • What we know about modern faculty life (in high-teaching load schools)

  • Where are you in the promotion and tenure path?

  • Integrating faith and your academic discipline

  • Types of scholarly activity (with lots of specific examples)

  • Strategies for publishing and giving talks

  • Round table on faith integration

  • Round table on scholarly activity

  • For Graduate Students: Considering Various Career Paths

This workshop is being facilitated by a team of people with a wide variety of experience in scholarly activities including: scholarship of teaching, perspectival scholarship (faith integration), and more traditional research. There will be a limited amount of reading to be done in advance of the workshop.

The cost is USD $100. The ACMS will sponsor the cost for a double room (shared with someone) and meals. You may request a single but you will be charged the difference of CAD $20 per night.
