Use of an Artificial Neural Network as a Model for Human Behavior: A Proposed Framework for Investigation of the Question of Free Will

Lindell Ormsbee, University of Kentucky (2013).

Abstract: In this paper I develop a conceptual model of human behavior using the architecture of an artificial neural network. I then use the resulting framework to explore the issue of humankind's freedom and its relationship to Christian soteriology. It is my hope that the proposed framework may provide new insights into how to better understand and explain the diversity of existing perspectives on this issue, and that these insights might possess both theological and evangelical benefits.
